How to determine the quality of the battery positive wire harness?
Appearance Inspection
Inspect the harness outer skin: Carefully check for any damage, cracks, aging, hardening or softening, discoloration, etc. of the harness insulation. If the insulation layer is damaged, it may expose the internal wires, leading to short circuit or leakage risks, indicating that the harness is damaged.
Check the connectors: Inspect the connectors for signs of looseness, deformation, corrosion, or ablation. Loose connectors may lead to poor contact, affecting power transmission; while corrosion or ablation will increase contact resistance, potentially preventing the circuit from functioning properly.
Check the harness fixing condition: Check whether the harness is securely fixed, and whether there is any looseness, detachment, or wear. If the harness is not fixed properly, vibrations during vehicle operation may cause the harness to rub against other components, leading to insulation damage or wire breakage.
Functional Testing
Startup test: When starting the vehicle or equipment, observe the operation of related components. If there are difficulties in starting, abnormal motor operation, or other battery-powered devices not functioning properly, there may be an issue with the positive battery harness.
Load test: While the equipment is operating normally, gradually increase the load and observe the performance of the positive battery harness. If overheating, unstable voltage, or decreased equipment performance occurs, it may indicate that the harness cannot bear the load, with issues such as wire aging or insufficient cross-sectional area.
Fault code check: For some devices equipped with electronic control systems, such as electric vehicles, specialized diagnostic tools can be used to read the vehicle's fault codes. If there are fault codes related to the positive battery harness, such as voltage anomalies or communication failures, it indicates that there may be an issue with the harness.
